    Green Garden Trail Committee Announces Upcoming Multi-Use Trail Plan Informational Open House


    On October 16th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Green Garden Elementary School (located at 9526 West Manhattan-Monee Road, Frankfort), the Green Garden Trail Committee will be hosting an informational open house. At the open house, the public will have an opportunity to learn about the multi-use trail plan. A vote will be held on the plan in the November 4th general election as an advisory referendum. The following is the question as it will be shown on the ballot: Should the Green Garden Township Board of Trustees adopt and begin implementation of the Green Garden Township Trail Plan dated August 2008?     The Green Garden Comprehensive Plan adopted by the Township in 2005 contained the intent for a Township trail plan. The draft trail plan was created by the Green Garden Township Trail Committee with input, review, comment and help from various sources which include staff of: Forest Preserve District of Will County; Will County Land Use Department; Openlands; National Park Service; Chicagoland Bicycle Federation; villages of Frankfort and Homer Glen. Additional comment was provided by individuals related to various trail organizations and local citizens.

    At the October 16th open house, there will be informational tables with opportunities to speak with Diane Banta from the National Park Service as well as others regarding the benefits of trails and specifics of the plan for the Green Garden Multi-Use Trail System. Can%92t make this Open House? The public is welcome to attend all trail committee meetings. Meeting dates prior to the general election are September 22nd and October 27th. Trail committee meetings start at 7 p.m. and are held at the Green Garden Town Hall, Center and Manhattan-Monee Road.
